I think part of my love of genealogy is the treasure hunt aspect of research. The chart of my Lawrence ancestors was assembled in October 1908 by Major George H. Lawrence from old wills, family Bibles, and information supplied by various members of the branch. And so it sat in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland in Belfast for 100 years waiting for me to discover it. Wow. It was written before computers and the Internet will led me to it. It was written only ten years after the lifetime of Catharine (Sinclair) Smyth whose mother was a Lawrence. Cool.
