Why I Subscribe to Genealogical Journals
I was asked at a party on Saturday night why I subscribe to genealogical journals. I said that in any given year, there is at least one or two articles on families from which I descend. Wanting to reassure myself of this assertion, I looked at the past year of three nationally-known journals to which I subscribe: 1. New England Historical and Genealogical Register (2008). I contributed two articles on my family, but there was an article on Wolstone Brockway, my ancestor. 2. The Genealogist (2008). One article on the Chatfields. 3. Pavel [Chodur] Dolinsky 1877-1937
My great-grandparents Pavel Dolinsky and Anna Kristofik c. 1907. Interestingly, his last name was actually Chodur. Because of all the Chodurs in Vrbovce, the village in Slovakia from where he came, his name was given as Chodur Dolinae (the Chodur who lived in the valley). Martin,
What a great photo...one of the children would be a grandparent correct?

Nope. That's Elizabeth (b. 1902); Catherine (b. 1904) and Stephen (b. 1905). That's how I dated the picture. It's 1905-1907. My grandfather, Paul would be born in 1908.
