There are two families from which you can descend that were instrumental in the founding of Plymouth, Mass., but were not on the Mayflower and therefore, do not qualify you for membership in the Mayflower Society. One is the family of the Rev. John Robinson, the minister to the Pilgrims in Leyden. The other is the family of George Morton, who financed the trip. I descend from him through his daughter Sarah (Morton) Bonham, of whom a children's book was written.
