There's little surprise when you descend from more than one Smith or Jones family. However, how common are certain surnames? I've been discussing an Archibald Family the immigrant for which was born about 1693 in northern Ireland and died in 1751 in New Hampshire. I also descend from another Archibald family in Scotland.
My great-great-grandmother, Catherine Baxter Young 1844-1931, was born in Brechin, Scotland, the daughter of James Young and Anne Archibald. Anne, 1807-1893 was born in Lethnot, Scotland, the daughter of John Archibald, Jr. and Agnes Christinson. John, 1762-1840, was the son of another John Archibald who married Janet Findly at Lethnot on 23 November 1759.
In a perfect genealogical world, I could hook up these two Archibald families.
