I love reading genealogical journals. 95% of the time the article is not about my own ancestry, but I still read the article. I love learning about different methods, sources, etc. I also love the stories. The May 2009 issue of the Maine Genealogist arrived this week. I loved reading it. Joseph C. Anderson, the editor, does a great job with this journal. This issue has a great editorial on when to publish your research. It's a tough issue and one with which I grapple constantly. Have I done all I can do? What have I missed? Maybe someone will read it and have more information. Is it OK to say that I don't have all the answers?
I'm so glad, in a schadenfreude way, that someone as good as Joe missed a record, although, you can hardly call it "missing it." I loved the story it leads us to, though.
The truth is, you're never done with research and there's always something you may miss. Do what you can and then publish and possibly republish.
