Newtons One wouldn't think that Newton was such a common name. I have one and possibly two in my own ancestry. The first is the Rev. Roger Newton ca. 1620-1683. The other possibility is the wife of Kenelm Winslow, Ellen (---) ca. 1598-1681. Ellen Newton came on the Anne and first married John Adams and then Kenelm Winslow. An early 20th century genealogist said that it was unlikely that a single woman would have travelled alone and inferred that she was married, although there is no such record to indicate that.
