I'm constantly surprised by what you can find on the Internet. Just when you think there's only useless and recycled junk, you google a name and a miracle happens. Warren Skidmore wrote an undated paper about the English origins of Mary Scudamore, the wife of Thomas French of Ipswich, Mass. Part of his theory is that Mary came to New England with either relatives or acquaintances from Gloucester, England, the Pengry brothers, Moses and Aaron. Their English origins are given as well. The paper is well written although not as well footnoted as a journal article. However, he gives reference to two wills for John Bower and Henry Redven, which were easily obtained from the National Archives web site. These wills do show that John Bower had a daughter who married John Pengry and he gives a bequest to Bridget Pengry his daughter. Henry Redven names his wife Isabel and gives bequests to Thomas and Moses Pengry. Isabel Redven is none other than the Isabel Redverne of Ipswich whose will is missing.
