Plymouth has its Mayflower Compact, but New Hampshire has two similar documents. The first is the Dover Combination dated 20 October 1640. Of the signatories, I directly descend from the following five men:
- Richard Pinkham (in a continuing line down to my mother whose maiden name is Pinkham)
- John Heard
- Thomas Leighton (Layton)
- Thomas Roberts
- Edward Starbuck (signed as Edward Starr)
This document, however, was recorded on 13 February 1682/83 and it is not known how many names were changed, added or deleted in the intervening forty years.
