Predating the Dover Combination by a year, the Exeter Combination or Agreement for self-government was signed on 5th day of the 4 mo. 1639 [i.e. 5 June 1639]. I only descend from George Walton as a signatory. It was noted that of the signatories, only five remained in Exeter and the rest scatter to the rest of New England (other than Massachusetts, whence they were fleeing). George Walton ended up in New Castle, N.H.
