Donald Lines Jacobus is considered the founding father of the modern school of genealogy. He published the journal that became The American Genealogist for decades. In that journal, he put his own ahnentafel (vol. 31, pp. 63-64). I noticed that his Jacobus ancestors came from my home town, Pompton Plains, N.J. This gravestone is not one of Jacobus's ancestors. However, it is facing a glassed-in foyer that connects the church office building with the sanctuary. I must have stared at this gravestone hundreds of times in my choir robe as I awaited to process each Sunday. And this one isn't in findagrave (yet).
I took a look at Jacobus's ahnentafel, and find we are distant cousins in one line, which I find interesting.
Am I the only person who finds it oddly reassuring that he also had gaps in his ahnentafel?

Yes, I think I wrote something similar to this at some point. Of course, Jacobus was too busy doing private client work. And no computers, no interstates, etc. etc. I wonder if he ever fleshed out some of his own lines later on?
