In the name of God Amen, the eleventh day of May One Thousand Eight hundred and forty eight
I Prudence Martin of the Parish of Hopewell in the County of Albert and province of New Brunswick Spinster being very weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed unto all once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God. And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form:
First I give and bequeath to my daughter Sybbyl Nikleson one bed. Also I give to my daughter Amy Cleveland one bed and side saddle. Also my grandson son james William Martin one Red Cow and Calf and sheep one large Bible . Also I give one Red and White cow one heffer two years old one clock to my daughter in law Louisa Martin the clock at her demise to be given to her son James William Martin. Also all my household furniture I give and bequeath to my aforesaid DAughter in law Louisa Martin. Also all the stock not mentioned to my son Andrew Martin. I also constitute make and ordain my daughter in law Louisa Martin my sole Executor of this my last will and testament all and singular. And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testament and wills by me in any ways but herein willed and bequeathed ratifying [can't read my copy] and no others to be my last will and testament.

Prudence (Wickware) Martin died 9 August 1851. She is directly in my umbilical line. Note her use of spinster instead of widow (she was both).
We share Prudence Wickwire Martin. she is my 3rd great grandmother on my mother's side.

I got this on a research trip to the New Brunswick Provincial Archives in 1990 (located in Fredericton). In fact, I know its 20 years old because its on that slimy photocopy paper we used to have for prints off microfilm.
