1. James Smith was born about 1643 (deposed in 1673 at age 30) and was killed in a Native American attack at Durham, New Hampshire on 6 July 1690. He married about 1677, Sarah Davis, born 7 March 1648/9 at Haverhill, Massachusetts and died also in a Native American attack on 18 July 1694 at Durham, New Hampshire, daughter of John and Jane (Peaseley) Davis. James was a tailor and an innkeeper. He had five children: Sarah, John, James, Mary, and Samuel. Although his parents are not known, it is clear that he is the brother of John Smith, Joseph Smith, and Rebecca (Smith) Adams all of Durham.
2. John Smith was born about 1681 at Durham, New Hampshire and died there before 27 March 1729. He married about 1705 at Durham, Elizabeth Buss, born about 1683 and died after 31 October 1739, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Bradbury) Buss. John and Elizabeth had six children: John, Elizabeth, Joseph, Mary, James, and Hannah.
3. Hannah Smith born 30 June 1718 at Durham, New Hampshire and died 13 February 1812 at New Durham, New Hampshire. She married about 1744, Abraham Runnels, born 23 May 1719 at Durham and died 24 July 1804 at New Durham, son of John and Hannah (Clark) Runnels. Abraham and Hannah had twelve children: Eliza, Abraham, John, Isaac, James, Samuel, Nathaniel,Jonathan, Hannah, Alice, Judith, and Ebenezer.
