An ahnentafel is a way to arrange your genealogy numerically. You are #1 and your dad becomes #2 and your mom #3.
The first number which is blank on my ahnentafel is #132 that is I don't know the parents of Matej Fusek b.ca. 1750. That's fairly respectable to get the first 131 ancestors in a row. All of my ethnicities: Slovak, Scottish and Irish all disappear about the year 1750, so I'm complete to then and then there's a cliff. Only my English ancestors go on.
What's your first blank number on your ahnentafel? My books are packed away but I recall that even famous people have lower numbers than mine. Michael's number is 58.
