- William Clarkson born say 1559 and died October 1619 at Bradford, Yorkshire, England. He married about 1584 Elizabeth Ledgard, born about 1560 and died 4 August 1634 at Bradford. In his work, Craine gives four more generations behind William Clarkson, including a blank generation of which I don't approve. I have left them out but they may well be true. William and Elizabeth had five children: Robert, Elizabeth, Susan, Ellen and Tristam.
- Robert Clarkson born about 1585 at Bradford and died there 10 March 1632. He married at Bradford on 9 September 1610, Agnes Lilly, who died at Bradford on 15 August 1628. Robert and Agnes had seven children: Robert, William, Mary, Robert, Sara, David, and Hester.
- Rev. David Clarkson was born February 1621/22 at Bradford and died 14 June 1686 at London, England. He married at London on 15 February 1664, Elizabeth Kenrick, born about 1641 and died after 1706, daughter of Matthew and Rebecca (Percival) Kenrick. Elizabeth has a valid royal line, but not the one given by Craine which is incorrect. David graduated from Cambridge University in 1644. He was a nonconformist minister. David had a first wife by whom he had two children. David and Elizabeth had six children:; Matthew, Rebecca, Mary, Gertrude, Robert and Katherine.
- Matthew Clarkson born about 1664, died 20 July 1702 at New York, New York. He married 19 January 1692 at New York, Catharina Van Schaick, born about 1670 and died 1 July 1702 at New York, daughter of Goosen Gerritt and Annetje (Lievens) Van Schaick. Matthew was the first provincial secretary to New York. Matthew had five children: Elizabeth, David, Levinus, Matthew, and Anna.
- Matthew Clarkson (Jr.) born April 1699 at New York, New York, died there 4 June 1739. He married at New York on 1 June 1718, Cornelia Bancker de Peyster, born 12 December 1695 at New York and died Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 25 May 1753, daughter of Johannes and Anne (Bancker) de Peyster. She married secondly 9 February 1741 at New Brunswick, New Jersey, the Rev. Gilbert Tennent. Matthew was a merchant. He had ten children: Catharine, Matthew, Johannes Levinus, Anna, Matthew, David, Matthew, Levinus, Cornelia, and Gerardus.
- Dr. Gerardus Clarkson born December 1738 at New York, New York, died 19 September 1790 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married at Philadelphia on 13 May 1761, Mary Flower,born July 1743 and died at Philadelphia on 18 January 1795, daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Branson) Flower. Dr. Clarkson studied medicine under Dr. Thomas Bond. He was a founder and first treasurer of the College of Physicians and trustee of U. Pennsylvania 1780-1790. Gerardus had nine children: Samuel, William, Joseph, George, Jacob, Cornelia, George, Rebecca, and Mary.
- Jacob Clarkson was born 13 April 1768 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died there 24 September 1832. He married at Philadelphia on 28 November 1795, Jane Stevenson, born 5 August 1772 at Philadelphia and died there the same day as her husband 24 September 1832, daughter of Robert and Hannah (Hicks) Stevenson. Jacob was a merchant. He had nine children: Hannah, Robert Stevenson, Gerardus Samuel, Jane, Mary, Susan E., Jacob E., Charles C., and Archibald Alexander.
- Charles C. Clarkson was born 6 October 1810 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died 14 September 1873 at Topeka, Kansas. He married on 16 November 1836, at Middletown, New Jersey, Matilda Wycoff Schureman, born 23 October 1812 at New Brunswick, New Jersey and died 2 February 1862 at Marlboro, New Jersey, daughter of Rev. Dr. John and Julia Anne (Conover) Schureman. Charles had three children: Charles, John Schureman, Matilda Schureman.
- Charles Clarkson was born about 1839 in Pennsylvania and died after 1874. He married on 19 October 1863 at Leavenworth, Kansas, Julia Berkley Brown, born 11 September 1844 at Pekin, Illinois and died 9 September 1917 at Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, daughter of Abram and Amanda Melvina Fitzallan (Berkley) Brown. Charles and Julia had three children: Maria Bridget, Edward Bradley, and Vida Hamlin.
- Vida Hamlin Clarkson was born 23 September 1873 at Stephens Point, Wisconsin and died 13 June 1943 at Dallas, Texas. She married at Kansas City, Missouri on 24 December 1889, Daniel Burton Ridpath, born 2 February 1867 at Red Rock, Iowa and died 5 June 1951 at Dallas, Texas, son of John Wesley and Duranda (Straughn) Ridpath. They had five children: Adella Vidanna, John Wesley, Virginia Marguerite, Marie Juliette, and Louise Straughn.
