Well, it must really be over. I was searching Familysearch.org for Slovak ancestors and Scottish ancestors and there is really nothing left to learn. I should feel proud. I have examinted every extant record for my ancestors. The reason why I can't go back any further is that the records don't exist. True, the search engine showed my ancestors Juraj Balaz and Elisabetha Siska getting married in Vrbovce and not Sobotiste where their children were born. That gave me one more generation back. But searching for the parents of Alexander Milne in Scotland is still useless since there are so many of that name being baptized in Angus in the 1790s. I have my Alexander Milne in the 1841 census with an occupation. If only I could kill him off, I could be more exact in finding his birth.
But I've done those searches before. Long before Familysearch.org was a thing, the Family History Library had a searchable database for Scottish church records. You really get to a place where you realize you've researched all you can do and that absence of a miracle in new records being discovered, you are done.
And that's sad.
