A Review of Royally Descended Immigrants to New Hampshire, The New Hampshire Genealogical Record 36 (2024):43-47.
It's a simple article showing the royal descents of several New Hampshire immigrants. Two were recently published in The American Genealogist and I thought that New Hampshirites might not see them. And I never published my own research on Rose (Stoughton) Otis.
The latest issue of TAG has reached my mailbox. It is Jan/Apr 2022 (Published June 2023) and delivered July 2023. In any case, they are only one year in arrears which is better than two years. By the end of this year, they may actually catch up and be in real time.
This issue has the conclusions of two articles I was reading and interested in. The last of the Sanborn brothers royal line was done and my posting on this was correct. They also included another royal line to Henry I of England through Elizabeth Brocas, wife of Nicholas Samborne. But the Sanborn riddle is solved.
The second article was the William Wentworth article. This shows royal lines for William through William the Lion, King of Scotland and Alfonso IX, King of Leon. They straighten out the Sothill pedigrees from the visitations and threw out the Salvain descent. They don't go into the Sothill/Fulnetby connection very deeply.
In any case, further original research should be made into the Fulnetby family for the Bradbury descent. In this article he throws out the Fulnetby/Dymoke marriage because it says Lionel Dymoke instead of Sir Thomas Dymoke. The idea is that the visitation gets the connection right but the names wrong. So more Fulnetby research is needed. I can see that there are Fulnetby wills and IPMs available and perhaps a better picture of this family can be possible.

I may, from time to time, complain that my writings have not caught traction and interested fellow genealogical researchers to collaborate. That is not the case with my friend Jesse Tarbet. Far smarter than I (Ph.D. in History) he is a fellow Winslow descendant and interested in the ancestry of the five Winslow brothers who came to Massachusetts; Edward and Gilbert were on the Mayflower; John, Kenelm, and Josiah came later. Kenelm is my ancestor.
Their common father was Edward Winslow. Jesse has written a superb article on the life of Edward Winslow. It is a must read for all Winslow descendants. The main thrust of the article is proof that Edward was not a saltmaker as has been thought, but rather an attorney working at the Court of Common Pleas.
His dates are deduced by me as being 21 when he made his first record in 1590 (although he may have been older) and death in 1634 as stated in Tarbet's article.

Someday we'll figure out the parents of Edward Winslow and see if the Winslows were indeed lesser gentry.
The most recent issue of the New Hampshire Genealogical Record (NHGR) came out this week. The lead article was on the Nutes. The principal title character of the article married a Pinkham and she is given wrong parents in the article. I immediately saw the error. I had to email the editor and let her know about the error.
I wrote about this in 2005-2006 in my article: The Pinkhams of Strafford County, New Hampshire, New Hampshire Genealogical Record, Vol. 22 (2005):1-7, 63-67, 115-25, 164-71, 23 (2006):27-76.
But neither the author or editor could put two and two together. If they had used my book: New Englanders in the 1600s: A Guide to Genealogical Research Published Between 1980 and 2010 (Boston, Mass.: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2011) they would have seen under the entry for Richard Pinkham that there was an article described as a multi-generational work on the descendants of John-2. So neither used my book which pointed to my article.
Both the editor and author are big time genealogists. One's a Certified Genealogist and the other is a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogy. Yet neither did the basic research one should do.
Lastly, the author cited to a secondary source instead of a primary source for the marriage. I was harangued by the editor in my Wallis article to cite every genealogical statement to a primary source. I'm guessing the editor needs articles so badly she's letting that criteria go. Why should people go around writing scholarly genealogical articles when no one reads them?
All genealogy is politics and I'm not a political animal. By now, based on my writings, I should be known as the definitive source on the Pinkhams, Yeatons, and Wallises. All you have to do is ask. I've had the same email address for 25 years.
I also thought that my genealogical legacy would be my book and my articles on the Pinkhams, Yeatons, and Wallises. But no one reads anything. It's all pointless.
Well, we didn't have to wait six months. Only three months, a regular quarter. Good for Nat Taylor. So the next issue (a double issue July/October 2021) was in my mailbox.
In it is part two of the Sanborn article which corroborates my provisional royal line that I posted. Also included is some baronial descents for Elder William Wentworth of New Hampshire.
Another great issue. Hopefully we'll get the next issue in April.
My issue of The American Genealogist arrived today. I always enjoy reading TAG. This issue has the English origins of the Sanborn brothers of Hampton, NH and their royal line. Also, Margaret, wife of John Warren of Watertown is given a surname and family back in England. Two big discoveries (of many).
It is too bad that the publishing schedule for TAG is so slow. This issue is January/April 2021 and noted as published in August 2022 (arriving today). That puts them a year and half behind. It will be at least six months before another issue arrives with the parts two of many of these articles. I can hardly wait.
This has been my favorite journal to publish in. My great-grandfather was born in Dover, New Hampshire and his entire ancestry is New Hampshire based.

I was interviewed today about my latest genealogical article on George Wallis of Portsmouth, N.H. It is a cool idea. The journal (New Hampshire Genealogical Record) that will print the article sends the issue out in paper or electronically. If you get an electronic copy then there are hyperlinks to things like my interview and actual documents that I have footnoted.
It was a short interview, some general questions and then mostly questions about the Wallis family and how I researched them.
The paper copy should be here soon. It's at the printer.
I noticed someone searching two of my articles in online search engines. As far as I know, none of my articles are available for free on the Internet. The articles written for either NEHGS Nexus, American Ancestors, New England Ancestors, or the New England Historical and Genealogical Register are all available at the NEHGS website. But, of course, you must be a member to access it. The New Hampshire Genealogical Record is not online at all (so far as I know). You still need to find a library with that journal.

Alice is a fourth great-grandmother. All the sources cited to herein I wrote, including the Thomas Bradbury article which was based on the notes and a draft of Marshall Kirk. So the one hole here is obviously the parentage of #7, Patience Hartford. Also, I would like to write something up on the Stanton family of New Hampshire which has been long overshadowed by the larger Stanton family of Connecticut (which ironically I also descend from). These articles all progressed from one to another. I wrote about that already as the domino effect.
